Research services

According to the extraordinary legal order related to the spread of the coronavirus, the member institutions and exhibition locations of the Budapest History Museum will be closed for 30 days from 11 November 2020.

The exhibitions cannot be visited, the library and other research services do not accept researchers. 



AQUINCUM MUSEUM

Those who wish to conduct research in the Archaeological Collections must apply for a research permit. Researchers should submit their applications either personally (at the Aquincum the Museum of the Budapest History Museum), by mail (Aquincum Museum, Záhony utca 4., Budapest 1031, Hungary), or by e-mail to aquincum@aquincum.hu.

BUDAPEST GALLERY

Researchers need to schedule an appointment to conduct research in the archives of the Budapest Gallery. Please contact department head Zsuzsanna Szegedy-Maszák by phone at +36 1 388 6784.   



CASTLE MUSEUM

Those who wish to conduct research in the Archaeological Archives must apply for a research permit. Researchers should submit their applications either personally (at the Castle Museum of the Budapest History Museum, Buda Castle Building E), by mail (Budapest History Museum, Szent György tér 2., Budapest 1014, Hungary), or by e-mail to btm@btm.hu.

The staff of the Archives provides research services between 9am and 3pm every weekday. Researchers need to schedule an appointment for their research.

KISCELL MUSEUM - MODERN URBAN HISTORY DEPARTMENT

Those who wish to conduct research in the collections of the Modern Urban History Department must apply for a research permit. Researchers need to schedule an appointment either by phone or e-mail with the respective head of the collection they would like to research (click here for a list of staff members) and state the purpose of their research. Researchers need to bring a signed copy of the research application form for the appointment.
