Similar to many other nations, Hungarians have a traditional holiday called 'Farsang' during which we celebrate the (nearing) end of winter. Although traditional folk costumes are usually meant to scare away the cold weather, nowadays people usually dress up in all kinds of costumes - just like Halloween.

As a nod to their current temporary exhibition 'Shine! - Fashion and glamour', presenting the cultural history of shiny and glittery garments from the 17th to the 21st century, the theme of the Kiscell Museum's Farsang is eclectic kitsch, meaning you can wear anything from tacky tracksuits to glamorous evening gowns. There is a fine line between kitsch and glamorous elegance - this evening, we are going to cross it.
