Vocal studio – choir and orchestra ORFELIN
 was formed in 2009 in Novi Sad, Serbia. It performs mainly the thematic projects, promoting the everlasting values of classical music, related to the great Christian holidays, historical epochs and significant anniversaries. Members are music professionals and experienced amateur singers from the renowned choir St Stephen of Dechani, students of the Music Academy in Novi Sad and the Isidor Bajić Music School. The ensemble performed at numerous concerts of baroque music, where in cooperation with the Belgrade Baroque Soloists and Makris Symphony Orchestra it performed madrigals, motets, cantatas and oratorios by Bach, Handel, Pergolesi, Mozart etc. Special place in ORFELIN repertoire belongs to the Serbian music of all periods; the music play about Kornelije Stanković’s life and work was performed many times and is favourite among the wide audience. ORFELIN draws the inspiration from the complex and renaissance personality of Zaharije Orfelin, one of the most prominent, but also most unusual Serbian artists.

 

Tamara Adamov Petijević has been conducting for 30 years. Today she leads three choirs and two symphony orchestras, which number around 300, mostly young people. As a violinist, she was for many years an active member of symphony and chamber orchestras, and afterwards also a teacher of violin. She was awarded with numerous high national prizes for her pedagogical work and attended many masterclasses and seminars of conducting throughout Europe, working with world-famous conductors. She achieved a doctoral degree in conducting at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2018/19. Her conducting was awarded many times, including the “Best Conductor Performance” title at the International Choral Competition in Prague, Czech Republic and First Prize Summa Cum Laude at the International Competition of Youth Orchestras in Neerpelt, Belgium. In 2017 she received the Grand Prix for the best conductor at the Chamber Choirs Competition in Kragujevac and was awarded the Female Performer of the Year by the magazine “Muzika klasika”. The choirs and orchestras under her leadership were awarded at numerous national and international competitions. She performed in almost all European countries, Russia and Israel, edited and published 3 score compilations and 20 CDs of choral and sacred music, as a result of her devoted work in the field of sacred, choral and oratorio music. As a lecturer and presenter she was a guest conductor at choral workshops and masterclasses in Chicago, Toronto, Torino, member of many international juries at choral competitions, and the first woman – conductor and professor at Sremski Karlovci Seminary in the long history of that institution from the 18th century. Tamara Adamov Petijević is the artistic director of the International Choral Festival in Niš and member of the Programme Commission of the Festival “Days of Mokranjac” in Negotin. In 2017 she initiated and was one of the founders of the Serbian Choral Association in Sombor, with 120 choirs from Serbia and abroad.
