All of our member institutions are open again

We are happy to announce that, with the opening of the Castle Museum on 9 June, all of our member institutions - the Aquincum Museum and the Kiscell Museum as well as the Budapest Gallery and its exhibition space, the Imre Varga Collection, are finally welcoming visitors again.

In addition to their permanent exhibitions and the ruin garden, the Aquincum Museum offers two temporary exhibitions entitled Ingenious inventions – Innovative ideas: Episodes from the history of ancient technology, and A 7000-year-old message: Remains of the Neolithic world in and around Budapest

The Kiscell Museum opened with an outdoor exhibition placed in the forest around the museum building about the park's history. Additionally, 'Memory Models" by Zsolt Asztalos, an exhibition of the Municipal Gallery, as well as Éva Bicskei's project entitled 'academia (an exploratory journey) excursus Kiscell Museum (an exploratory journey)', which is part of Regime Changes 2019/2020, a series of events organized by tranzit.hu.

The Castle Museum's main new attraction is the exhibition 'Collectively Carried Out' which features Birth, a monumental work by Roma painter Tamás Péli. The two exhibitions opened last year, namely 'Mounted Archers from Budapest's Past - From the Scythians to the Ottomans' and 'Mainly Medieval 5.0 - From Excavation to Exhibition' are open again as well.

At the Budapest Gallery,  Judit Lilla Molnár's exhibition Planned Accidental is on view until 18 July, and Péter Gálhidy's Natura Morta until 11 July.

In accordance with Government decree 484/2020. (XI. 10.), the museum may only be visited by coronavirus Immunity Certificate holders and minors in their care. Entrance to the museum is subject to the presentation of an Immunity Certificate in the form of a plastic card or by showing the verifying QR code in the vaccination certificate application, and a personal identification card issued and accepted by a Hungarian authority.
