14. madeinhungary + 7. MeeD | DESIGN WITHOUT BORDERS. The new exhibition of the New Budapest Gallery, featuring the works of Czech, French, Polish, Hungarian, German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Slovakian and Swiss designers, has opened on 30 May 2019.
The member institutions of the Budapest History Museum are open during the Easter holidays as follows.
The new exhibition of the Castle Museum, entitled 'Buda Castle District Uncovered' opened yesterday. The exhibition presents the archaeological research results of the past 10 years from the excavations of the Buda Castle District.
As per the decision of the Budapest City Council, the Director of the Óbuda Museum, Noémi Népessy was appointed as the new Director General of the Budapest History Museum from 1 April 2019. The colleagues of the four member institutions of the Budapest History Museum – namely, the Castle Museum, the Aquincum Museum, the Kiscell Museum - Municipal Gallery, and the Budapest Gallery – welcomed the new Director General yesterday at a general assembly.
Organized as a part of the year's programs commemorating the 500th anniversary of Leonardo's death, the exhibition 'Verrocchio, il maestro di Leonardo' opened on 9 March 2019 at the Palazzo Strozzi and the Bargello in Florence. Among the many valuable objects, three pieces were lent by the Budapest History Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery for the first retrospective of the Renaissance master's works.
